During the years of the wild west duels were though of as the manly way to settle an arguement. It took away the chance of suprise and shooting your opponent in the back, instead it put your life on the line and the only way to save it was with pure skill. The developers of red dead redemption looked at this aspect of the old ways of the west decided to make it an equally important aspect in red dead redemption. Well if you just started playing then I would say to keep on practicing the best way to learn how to duel in red dead redemption is to simply do it until you become proficient. However there are a couple tips and tricks that I have come across that could help you win the majority of the duels that you come into. However just reading how to duel in red dead redemption is no going to make you a god at it, instead you have to actually turn on your console and put these tips into action, otherwise you will not get better.
If you have been dueling in red dead redemption you probably know how it works right now. The contestants all get in a basic circle and then the signal to duel is given. Now you will draw your gun and look at the color of the reticle. The reticle will chance color from red to white. When the reticle is white you will be the most lethal. Therefore when you are dueling in red dead redemption in the reticle is white this is your time to take a shot at your opponents head. Usually this will result in an instant kill and you winning a duel in red dead redemption. However as always your precision is key. Shooting off twenty shots in the span of seconds does you no good if your bullets are not hitting the mark. Therefore it is important to time your shots carefully and cope with any recoil that may happen because of the shooting of your gun.
Now lets get into the proper way to win a duel in red dead redemption. The first ingrdient to win a duel happens before the first shots are fired. You should take your reticle and aim it at your opponents hand that has his weapon in it. This is a pretty large target, however if you miss it you are still at least garunteed to do some damage because you will hit him in the body. If you do happen to hit your opponent in his hand that has his weapon in it you will disarm him which is great news if you want to win a duel.
Now if your a little more skilled at this game then going for the head is not a bad idea. Right when the game yells draw press the left bumper button and move your crosshairs directly to your opponents head. You will have about half a scond to draw your weapon out and press right bumper rapidly and place a few shots right into your opponents head. You are almost garunteed to win any duel you get into if you follow these simple steps. Most people out there that have no strategy will simply shoot their enemy in their body, which does not do much damage at all. By shooting the opponent in the head you do the most damage possible.
